“The Youth and Urbanism Strategic Plan, 2026–2030, is a comprehensive framework aimed at advancing Kenya's Vision 2030, Africa's Agenda 2063, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Building on previous efforts, it charts a path toward a more inclusive recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, the realization of the aforementioned visions and aspirations, and the establishment of a society where every child and young person in urban centers is included, empowered with agency, and has their rights fully upheld.
This Strategic Plan outlines the transformative strategies and enablers essential to our success in supporting children and young people in cities, especially the most vulnerable, including those in humanitarian crises and fragile urban contexts across Kenya.
As youth leaders, we will advocate for robust policy frameworks and practical guidance to drive national action and international support, improving the lives of children and young people through this plan. The strategy details action plans extending through 2030 and beyond, with the aim of achieving our objectives via our four key pillars: youth development and urban environment; climate change and disaster management; gender equality; and child rights and protection.
Advocacy remains our core approach—actively promoting our vision and causes through targeted methods to influence attitudes, decisions, and policies of individuals, organizations, and governments. Complementing this, we employ social justice, humanitarian action, innovation, and partnership as key strategies in our work.
We seek to enhance the well-being and livelihoods of children and young people by boosting their involvement in urban planning and governance. The proposed action plan emphasizes strengthening urban systems, building international, national, and local capacities in youth and child-focused areas, and expanding the quality and quantity of opportunities for their full, effective, and meaningful participation in society—all to benefit current and future generations.”
